Membership FAQs
The International Cake Exploration Societé – ICES, is an organization for anyone interested in cake decorating and the confectionery arts. Our motto is Icing, Caring, Everyone Sharing. Our goal is to promote sugar art by sharing the opportunities of our organization with others that seek to learn and develop their own skills. ICES is comprised of sugar artists, cake decorators and vendors.
ICES sugar art masterpieces can be as small as one exquisite gum paste rose or as large as the beautiful towering sugar sculptures you’ve seen on televised competitions. Whether you’d like to learn more about the sugar art craft, or if you’ve been teaching cake decorating for years, ICES has a place just for you. Our members include all ages and levels of experience from beginners to professionals. There are over 700 ICES members in 57 countries around the world.
The annual ICES Cake Expo includes a spectacular display of sugar art. The recent Convention in Fort Worth, Texas featured displays with the latest techniques in cake and cookie decorating, chocolate, candy, gum paste, rolled fondant and other forms of sugar art. International, US vendors and authors come to display and make available innovative, exciting tools, books, and related products. We hope you will be able to attend our upcoming Cake Expo in Reno, NV, from July 28 – July 30, 2022.
Local area groups offer opportunities to meet and network with other decorators. They sponsor local events, hands-on seminars, displays, and other events to promote sugar art.
The Days of Sharing are open to members and guests. Representatives send newsletters with local information and news for their areas.
ICES also promotes learning by annually awarding sugar art scholarships to deserving persons. You may apply for a scholarship to further your education in the sugar arts.
ICES members stay informed with 11 issues of the ICES Digital Newsletters a year, a robust, full color magazine. Each issue features recipes, cake photographs, helpful instructions, book reviews, class and local show schedules and organization news.
