1. Scholarship funds will only be released to pay fees and expenses associated with classes given by teachers on the ICES Approved Teacher List. Any teacher who is not on the list will not be paid for any classes. The class can be a virtual class that complies with the ICES requirements.
2. If there is a teacher that you would like to see on the ICES Approved Teacher List, please give them the link to the ICES Approved Teacher Application Form on the ICES website. Teachers can only be approved by the Programs Committee and the President.
3. Class fees will be paid directly to the teacher if the teacher agrees to register the student and bill/invoice ICES for payment, or to you, the recipient, as a reimbursement upon submission of all proper receipts. All virtual classes must be preapproved and funds will be paid directly to the teacher.
4. You must use at least 60% of your award for class fees. The remaining 40% may be used for supplies, travel, hotel and meal expenses incurred with the class. Any student who wishes to use scholarship money to purchase individual classes at an event where a registration fee is charged to attend the event, may include registration fee charges as part of the 60% of reimbursement that must be used for classes, with the provision that the amount of the registration fee submitted cannot exceed the actual cost of the classes. You must have receipts to verify those expenses and turn them in to the ICES Programs Chairman with an Award Form no later than thirty (30) days after the expiration date of the scholarship period. For virtual classes, only supplies will be approved for additional expenses.
5. The Award Form must be filled out before every class and sent to the current ICES Programs Chairman, who will confirm class eligibility.
6. Scholarship requirements after taking the class: Both Student Comment Sheets and Teacher Comment Sheets, must be submitted along with receipts, to the ICES Programs Chairman for approval, so that they can issue funds for the class. These sheets are also required for the virtual class. Scholarship Recipients are required to demonstrate a technique learned in one of your scholarship classes. This should not be you demoing/teaching an entire class, but just one or two techniques or tips learned in the class, please credit the teacher you learned the technique from. This may be done at an ICES event or other gathering of sugar artists. If you are taking multiple classes, only one demo is necessary. You will not be permitted to share the hand-outs or any class plans you received from your instructor without written permission from the instructor.
7. Failure to provide proper documentation or comply with any of the rules stated on this page will have consequences.
