Diane grew up watching her mom decorate cakes, cupcakes and cookies. In 1968, she was given the Wilton yearbook and some basic supplies. This set off her love of cake decorating and resulted in her wining several awards including First Place/Felicitations of the Jury at the Culinary Cake Show. In 1975, She was introduced to gum paste miniatures. She began to hand mold miniatures and create wood grained effects in sugar, inspiring her to introduce her book “Magic Touch” to the 1982 ICES Convention. Diane innovated many techniques including “Puffed Embroidery”, introducing each of these to the sugar decorating world. She was very involved in all aspects of ICES, and was awarded the Wilbur Brand Memorial Service Award in 1998. As a Cake Decorator, Teacher, Author, Judge, Demonstrator and Vendor. Diane fully lived our motto of “Caring and Sharing.” Creating several Social Media Groups for sugar Artist of every caliber, Diane’s groups will continue in her memory and with a combined membership of over 350,000 members from all over the world her legacy will continue! This wonderful lady will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
